Organic 100% Whole Spelt Flour is one of our most popular specialty products. Spelt — also known as Farro Grande or Einkorn & Emmer’s younger brother — grows tall and has a hull just like it’s older siblings. However, Spelt performs much better in bread baking applications. It develops a stronger gluten network that will give your spelt bread greater volume than Einkorn or Emmer. Organic Whole Spelt flour can be a great substitute for organic whole wheat or all-purpose flour in pie and tart crusts. Also, Spelt has similar baking characteristics as wheat but can be a healthier choice since it is more water soluble than wheat, making it easier to digest.
